Krzysztof Paruch: Economic Systems Engineering
December 4, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Economic Systems Engineering is a new discipline of study related to the emerging field of Cryptoeconomics. Facilitated by the advent of the Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) it became possible to create digital economies on top of a trustworthy digital infrastructure that is jointly operated by network participants by the use of rights managed by cryptographic tokens. In contrast to today’s web2 and its platform-economies, in the web3 enabled token-economies of the future data is no longer stored and managed by centralized entities. Decentralization in every component of its architecture (technology, control and governance) is a key aspect of these economies and is enabled by the combination of cryptography and tokens. Research in the field of Cryptoeconomics addresses questions about the proper design, maintenance and governance of decentralized economies built on top of a blockchain infrastructure. It also aims to propose a definition of appropriate methodology equipping system architects with a toolkit necessary to enable the design, analysis and valuation of decentralized economies.
